Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of complex mechanical components and assemblies using CAD tools like Creo or SolidWorks.
  • Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to validate designs under extreme conditions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration and manufacturability.
  • Develop and execute design verification plans, including prototyping, testing, and iteration based on test data.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of materials science to select alloys, composites, and polymers for high-performance applications.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ASME, ISO, and aerospace-specific regulations like AS9100.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution (experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering within aerospace, automotive, or industrial sectors (experience)
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and simulation software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, ANSYS) (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and design validation processes (experience)
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical design principles (experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (experience)
  • Professional certifications such as Six Sigma Green Belt or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (experience)
  • Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) and advanced composites (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced mechanical systems and components for high-reliability applications using state-of-the-art CAD/CAE tools
  • Conduct detailed stress, thermal, and vibration analyses to ensure design robustness under operational extremes
  • Lead design reviews and provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary project teams
  • Prototype and test mechanical assemblies, analyzing results to refine designs and mitigate risks
  • Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for cost, weight, and producibility
  • Document designs, generate technical reports, and support regulatory certification processes
  • Innovate new solutions by staying abreast of emerging technologies in materials and manufacturing
