Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize complex mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software like Creo or SolidWorks, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ASME and ISO.
  • Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to validate designs for stress, thermal, and vibration performance.
  • Lead design reviews and prototype development, collaborating with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and systems engineering.
  • Develop and implement design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles to reduce costs and improve production scalability.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure precision in high-volume production environments.
  • Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives using tools like Six Sigma and root cause corrective action (RCCA) methodologies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to innovation through patentable designs and technical publications.

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering within aerospace, automotive, or industrial sectors (experience)
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (Creo, SolidWorks, or CATIA) and simulation tools (ANSYS, NX Nastran) (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical systems (experience)
  • Strong understanding of materials science, including metals, composites, and polymers (experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (experience)
  • Professional certifications such as Six Sigma Green Belt or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (experience)
  • Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) and topology optimization (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and detail mechanical designs for subsystems including housings, linkages, and actuators using parametric modeling techniques
  • Execute structural and thermal analyses to predict and mitigate failure modes under operational loads
  • Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing teams to select materials and processes for cost-effective production
  • Prepare technical documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and engineering change orders (ECOs)
  • Lead failure investigations using fishbone diagrams and 8D problem-solving methodologies
  • Integrate mechanical designs with electrical and software teams for mechatronic systems
  • Drive innovation by exploring advanced manufacturing techniques and sustainable design practices
