Location: Allentown, PA (Hybrid)
Overview
Join Honeywell's innovative energy transition team as an Advanced Process P&ID Engineer. In this critical role, you will develop, implement, and manage process systems for state-of-the-art LNG plants, optimizing operational safety, efficiency, and reliability. Reporting directly to the Plant Systems Manager, you will work from our Allentown, PA facility on a hybrid schedule, blending cutting-edge engineering with collaborative teamwork. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop comprehensive P&ID diagrams for LNG liquefaction, regasification, and storage processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards like API and ASME.
- Lead process simulation modeling using tools such as Aspen HYSYS or UniSim to optimize plant performance and energy efficiency.
- Conduct hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies and risk assessments to enhance safety protocols and mitigate operational risks.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, instrumentation, and control engineers, to integrate P&ID designs into overall plant engineering.
- Manage and update P&ID documentation throughout project lifecycles, from FEED to commissioning and startup.
- Provide technical support for LNG plant operations, troubleshooting process deviations and recommending efficiency improvements.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, including LNG-specific codes from PHMSA and FERC.

- Proven track record in process simulation and optimization for cryogenic or hydrocarbon processing systems (experience)
- Strong understanding of LNG process fundamentals, including liquefaction cycles and safety systems (experience)
- Experience with HAZOP, SIL, and LOPA methodologies for process safety management (experience)
- Proficiency in industry-standard tools like Aspen HYSYS, AutoCAD P&ID, or SmartPlant P&ID (experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (experience)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification (experience)
- 10+ years in LNG-specific projects, including FEED, EPC, or operations phases (experience)
Responsibilities
- Develop and revise P&ID drawings for LNG plant processes, incorporating client specifications and best practices
- Perform process simulations to evaluate design alternatives and recommend optimizations for throughput and energy use
- Lead multidisciplinary design reviews and HAZOP sessions to identify and resolve process risks
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless P&ID integration
- Generate process datasheets, equipment lists, and line schedules derived from P&ID models
- Provide on-site support during plant commissioning, startup, and performance testing
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of Honeywell's LNG engineering standards
