Advanced Project Engineer

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid)

Overview

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will provide expert-level technical leadership in the design, development, and execution of complex engineering projects. Based out of our state-of-the-art facility in Phoenix, AZ, this hybrid role offers the flexibility to collaborate in-person while enjoying remote work options. As a subject matter expert, you will champion technical excellence, mentor junior engineers, and ensure projects meet rigorous performance, safety, and regulatory standards in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle of advanced engineering projects, from concept through design, prototyping, testing, and deployment.
  • Develop and optimize complex systems using CAD modeling, simulation tools, and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Conduct risk assessments, failure mode analysis (FMEA), and root cause investigations to mitigate technical challenges.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with multidisciplinary teams, including software, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to integrate solutions seamlessly.
  • Mentor and guide engineering staff, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as AS9100, FAA regulations, and Honeywell's internal quality protocols.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for stakeholders and leadership reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering project leadership, preferably in aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing (experience)
  • Proven track record managing complex engineering projects from inception to completion (experience)
  • Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB) (experience)
  • Strong understanding of engineering standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100, DO-160) (experience)
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and root cause analysis methodologies (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or PMP certification (experience)
  • Experience with Honeywell products or similar avionics/control systems (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in designing and developing advanced mechanical, electrical, or systems solutions for aerospace applications
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams to achieve on-time, on-budget delivery of high-complexity engineering initiatives
  • Perform detailed simulations, prototyping, and validation testing to ensure system reliability and performance
  • Identify and implement process improvements using Lean Six Sigma methodologies
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and integrate subsystems
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets while monitoring progress against key milestones
  • Mentor junior engineers and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions on best practices
