Advanced Software Engineer

Location: Bangalore, Karnataka, India | Workplace: Hybrid

Overview

As an Advanced Software Engineer at Honeywell, you will play a pivotal role in leading cutting-edge software development projects within our Aerospace and Industrial Automation divisions. Reporting directly to our Engineering Manager, you’ll work out of our state-of-the-art facility in Bangalore, Karnataka on a hybrid work schedule. In this position, you will enhance and maintain critical software components, troubleshoot complex issues, optimize performance, and drive innovation to deliver mission-critical solutions that power Honeywell's global operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced software architectures for embedded systems and cloud-integrated applications.
  • Enhance and maintain high-performance software components, ensuring scalability, reliability, and compliance with industry standards like DO-178C and MISRA.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues in real-time environments, conducting root cause analysis and implementing robust fixes.
  • Optimize software performance through code refactoring, algorithmic improvements, and integration of AI/ML models for predictive analytics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, QA, and product managers, to define requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and establish best practices for agile software development.
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives, prototyping new technologies like edge computing and IoT for Honeywell's smart building and aerospace platforms.

  • Strong experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and performance optimization (experience)
  • Hands-on expertise in troubleshooting complex software issues in production environments (experience)
  • Familiarity with aerospace or industrial standards (e.g., DO-178C, ISO 26262) (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field (experience)
  • Certifications such as Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) or AWS Certified Developer (experience)
  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks in industrial IoT applications (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement scalable software solutions using C++, Java, and Python for embedded and cloud environments
  • Lead agile development teams in sprint planning, execution, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Perform advanced debugging and performance profiling using tools like GDB, Valgrind, and JProfiler
  • Integrate software with hardware components, including sensors and actuators, for avionics and automation systems
  • Conduct thorough testing, including unit, integration, and system-level tests with frameworks like Google Test and Selenium
  • Document designs, APIs, and processes to ensure knowledge transfer and compliance
  • Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and prototyping proof-of-concepts
