Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate advanced avionics systems including EGPWS, TAWS, ROAAS, and data communication protocols.
  • Lead system-level requirements analysis, architecture design, and verification for DO-178C compliant software and hardware.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, certification specialists, and airframe manufacturers, to deliver robust solutions.
  • Perform modeling, simulation, and testing using tools like MATLAB/Simulink to validate system performance under diverse flight conditions.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and support FAA/EASA certification processes for safety-critical systems.
  • Innovate new features for terrain avoidance, runway safety, and datalink communications to meet evolving regulatory and customer needs.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical roadmaps for future avionics platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in avionics systems engineering, preferably with safety-critical systems like EGPWS or TAWS (experience)
  • Proven experience with DO-178C/DO-254 certification processes and ARP4754A/4761A standards (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with system modeling, simulation, and integration testing in aviation environments (experience)
  • Strong understanding of aircraft navigation, terrain databases, and data communication protocols (e.g., CPDLC, ADS-B) (experience)
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required due to ITAR regulations (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Experience with Runway Overrun Awareness systems (ROAAS) or similar Honeywell products (experience)
  • Professional certifications such as INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) or PMP (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop advanced avionics systems for terrain awareness, ground proximity warning, and runway overrun prevention
  • Lead requirements definition, traceability, and validation using tools like DOORS or Polarion
  • Perform system integration, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and flight simulation validations
  • Analyze and mitigate safety risks through Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA) and System Safety Assessments
  • Collaborate with global teams and OEMs (e.g., Boeing, Airbus) to integrate solutions into commercial aircraft platforms
  • Drive innovation in aircraft data communications, including ACARS and future datalink enhancements
  • Support regulatory compliance and certification activities for FAA, EASA, and other authorities
