Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement closed-loop control algorithms for real-time systems, including PID controllers, state-space models, and adaptive control strategies.
  • Develop and validate dynamic system models using MATLAB/Simulink and other simulation tools to predict and optimize performance under varying conditions.
  • Lead integration of control systems with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing environments to ensure seamless functionality in aerospace and industrial platforms.
  • Analyze system stability, robustness, and fault tolerance using advanced techniques like Lyapunov stability analysis and robust control theory.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and systems engineers, to define requirements and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Conduct performance tuning, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of control loops to meet stringent safety and regulatory standards (e.g., DO-178C, ARP4754).
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical roadmaps for next-generation closed-loop control technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing closed-loop control systems for aerospace or industrial applications (experience)
  • Proven expertise in control theory, including PID, state-space, and nonlinear control techniques (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with model-based design tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and Simulink Control Design (experience)
  • Familiarity with real-time embedded systems and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation (experience)
  • Strong understanding of system dynamics, stability analysis, and certification standards (e.g., DO-178C) (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Control Systems, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline (experience)
  • Experience with Honeywell's aerospace control systems or similar platforms (experience)
  • Professional certifications such as INCOSE Systems Engineering or Control Systems Professional (CSP) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect closed-loop control systems for multi-domain applications, ensuring optimal performance and fault tolerance
  • Develop and validate control algorithms using simulation, emulation, and physical testing methodologies
  • Perform system identification, tuning, and optimization to achieve desired dynamic responses
  • Integrate control software with embedded platforms, including RTOS and FPGA-based implementations
  • Conduct trade studies and risk assessments for control system architectures
  • Support certification and qualification processes for safety-critical systems
  • Drive innovation through research into advanced controls like model predictive control (MPC) and machine learning integration
