Location: Rocky Mount, NC (Hybrid, after initial 90-day onsite period)

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement advanced verification and validation strategies for complex electromechanical and software-integrated systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and cross-functional teams on best practices in testing methodologies and regulatory standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for test failures, ensuring product reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with design, quality, and manufacturing teams to integrate test requirements early in the product lifecycle.
  • Develop and execute test plans compliant with FAA, DO-160, and other industry regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in test processes, tools, and automation to enhance efficiency and reduce time-to-market.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for leadership and regulatory submissions.

Summary

As an Advanced Test Engineer here at Honeywell, you will develop verification and validation strategies, mentor teams, and ensure regulatory compliance. Lead initiatives and shape product development for groundbreaking solutions. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Rocky Mount, NC location. This role is eligible for hybrid work mode, except for the first 90 days.

  • 5+ years of experience in verification, validation, and testing of complex aerospace or industrial systems (experience)
  • Proven track record of leading test engineering projects and ensuring compliance with FAA, DO-160, or equivalent standards (experience)
  • Experience with test automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, LabVIEW) (experience)
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and failure modes analysis (e.g., FMEA) (experience)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Certifications such as Certified Test Engineer (CTE) or Six Sigma Green Belt (experience)
  • Experience with Honeywell's product lines or similar avionics/industrial control systems (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute detailed verification and validation plans for hardware, software, and integrated systems
  • Mentor and guide engineering teams on advanced testing techniques and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Lead failure investigations using data analytics, HALT/HASS testing, and environmental simulations
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define test requirements and integrate them into product development processes
  • Optimize test infrastructure, including selection and implementation of automated test equipment
  • Ensure all testing activities meet stringent quality standards and generate comprehensive documentation
  • Champion process improvements to enhance test coverage, repeatability, and cost efficiency
