Role Overview

As an AI Engineer II at Honeywell, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing cutting-edge AI algorithms, models, and systems to solve complex business problems across our aerospace, building technologies, and performance materials sectors. Reporting directly to our Engineering Manager, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, software engineers, and domain experts to ensure solutions are scalable, efficient, and aligned with business objectives. Working from our state-of-the-art facility in Atlanta, GA on a hybrid schedule, you’ll contribute to transformative projects that enhance operational efficiency and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy advanced machine learning models, including deep learning architectures for computer vision, natural language processing, and predictive analytics.
  • Optimize AI systems for production environments, focusing on scalability, low-latency inference, and integration with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, prototype solutions, and iterate based on real-world performance metrics.
  • Conduct data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation using industry-standard metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews, ensuring best practices in AI development and MLOps pipelines.
  • Stay abreast of emerging AI trends and technologies, recommending and implementing innovations to maintain Honeywell’s competitive edge.
  • Ensure ethical AI practices, including bias detection, explainability, and compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Proven track record of building scalable AI solutions for real-world business applications (experience)
  • Experience with MLOps practices, including model versioning, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) (experience)
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn (experience)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in AI, Machine Learning, or related field (experience)
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Machine Learning or Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer (experience)
  • Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or IoT domains with AI applications (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop AI/ML models to address complex problems in predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and optimization
  • Implement end-to-end AI pipelines from data ingestion to model deployment and monitoring
  • Lead experimentation and A/B testing to validate model performance and business impact
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to integrate AI solutions into Honeywell’s software platforms
  • Perform model tuning, hyperparameter optimization, and scalability assessments for edge and cloud deployments
  • Document technical approaches, create reusable code libraries, and contribute to internal AI knowledge base
  • Analyze large datasets using SQL, Spark, or similar tools to derive actionable insights
