Overview

Honeywell is seeking a talented Application Engineer II - Fire System to join our Building Technologies division. In this hybrid role based in an international location, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimizing advanced fire detection and suppression systems for commercial, industrial, and critical infrastructure applications. As a key contributor to Honeywell's mission of creating safer, smarter buildings, you will leverage cutting-edge technologies to deliver reliable fire safety solutions that protect lives and assets worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and configure fire alarm control panels, detection systems, and integrated suppression solutions using Honeywell's industry-leading platforms such as NOTIFIER and ESSER.
  • Conduct site surveys, risk assessments, and system performance analyses to ensure compliance with international standards like NFPA, EN54, and UL.
  • Develop custom application software, logic programming, and networking configurations for fire systems in complex environments.
  • Collaborate with sales, project management, and installation teams to provide technical support, training, and troubleshooting during project lifecycle.
  • Perform system testing, commissioning, and validation to verify functionality and integration with building management systems (BMS).
  • Generate detailed technical documentation, as-built drawings, and reports for regulatory approvals and client handovers.
  • Stay abreast of emerging fire safety technologies and contribute to product innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related technical discipline (experience)
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in fire alarm systems design, application engineering, or fire safety engineering (experience)
  • Proven expertise with fire detection and suppression technologies, including addressable systems and control panels (experience)
  • Familiarity with international fire safety codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 72, EN54, UL 864) (experience)
  • Experience with system integration, networking protocols (BACnet, Modbus), and BMS interfaces (experience)
  • Ability to travel internationally for site visits and project support (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Fire Protection (experience)
  • NICET Level III/IV certification or equivalent (CFPS, IFE) (experience)
  • Experience with Honeywell NOTIFIER or ESSER fire systems (experience)
  • Project management certification (PMP) and bilingual proficiency (English + local language) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer fire system applications, including loop calculations, battery sizing, and voice evacuation systems
  • Program fire alarm controllers using tools like VeriFire Tools and develop custom cause-and-effect logic
  • Lead technical reviews, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and on-site commissioning activities
  • Provide expert-level support for troubleshooting complex fire system issues and root cause analysis
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with global teams to deliver turnkey fire safety solutions on time and within budget
  • Mentor junior engineers and conduct training sessions on system operation and maintenance
  • Contribute to R&D efforts by testing new fire detection algorithms and IoT-enabled features
