Automation Welder - Level 3 (2nd Shift)

Location: Palmetto, FL | Workplace: On-site | Shift: 2nd Shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and program automated welding systems, including robotic MIG, TIG, and plasma arc welders, to fabricate intricate metal assemblies with tolerances under 0.005 inches.
  • Perform advanced weld repairs on high-strength alloys such as stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and Inconel, adhering to AWS D17.1 aerospace welding standards.
  • Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) including visual, dye penetrant, and ultrasonic inspections to verify weld integrity and compliance with blueprints and specifications.
  • Set up, calibrate, and maintain welding automation equipment, troubleshooting PLC controls, sensors, and robotic arms to minimize downtime and optimize production throughput.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to develop welding procedures, interpret technical drawings, and implement process improvements for enhanced productivity.
  • Ensure workplace safety by following OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and Honeywell's safety protocols while handling hazardous materials and high-heat processes.
  • Maintain detailed production records, perform root cause analysis on defects, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives like Lean Six Sigma.

  • Ability to pass Honeywell internal weld qualification tests (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Welding Technology or related field (experience)
  • Certification in robotic welding (e.g., FANUC or ABB robotics) (experience)
  • Experience with NDT methods (PT, UT, MT) and Lean manufacturing principles (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Program and operate robotic welding cells to produce high-precision welds on structural components
  • Execute multi-process welding (GMAW, GTAW, PAW) on complex geometries while maintaining production schedules
  • Inspect and certify welds using precision measuring tools and NDT techniques to meet AS9100 quality standards
  • Diagnose and resolve automation equipment malfunctions, performing preventive maintenance on weld fixtures and robots
  • Develop and qualify welding procedures (WPS/PQR) in collaboration with metallurgical engineers
  • Train junior welders on automation best practices and safety protocols
  • Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions for yield improvement
