Automation Welder - Level 3 (3rd Shift)

Location: Palmetto, FL | Workplace: On-site | Shift: 3rd Shift (11:00 PM - 7:30 AM)

In this advanced role, you will leverage cutting-edge automation welding technologies to fabricate, assemble, and repair precision metal structures critical to Honeywell's aerospace, energy, and industrial products. As a Level 3 welder, you will operate robotic welding systems, perform complex manual welds, and ensure compliance with stringent quality standards such as AWS D17.1 for aerospace applications. Working on the 3rd shift, you will play a pivotal role in supporting 24/7 production operations, contributing to Honeywell's commitment to innovation and operational excellence. This on-site position offers the opportunity to work with advanced CNC welding equipment, MIG/TIG processes, and automated guided vehicles in a safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and program industrial robotic welding systems (e.g., FANUC, ABB) to produce high-precision welds on aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium components.
  • Perform advanced manual welding techniques including GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and plasma arc welding to repair and fabricate complex metal assemblies.
  • Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) such as visual inspections, dye penetrant, and ultrasonic testing to verify weld integrity and dimensional accuracy.
  • Set up, calibrate, and maintain welding automation equipment, troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime and ensure production targets are met.
  • Interpret technical blueprints, weld symbols, and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) to execute welds meeting Honeywell's exacting specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to implement process improvements and support lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to OSHA, Honeywell safety protocols, and performing routine equipment maintenance.

  • Proven ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, weld maps, and GD&T specifications (experience)
  • Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and quality control in high-precision environments (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Welding Technology or related field (experience)
  • Certification in robotic welding programming (e.g., FANUC or ABB certified) (experience)
  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing with familiarity to AS9100 standards (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Program and operate robotic welding cells to fabricate structural components with tolerances under 0.005 inches
  • Execute multi-process welding on exotic alloys, ensuring 100% first-pass yield rates
  • Perform root cause analysis on weld defects using Six Sigma methodologies and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain detailed weld logs, inspection records, and production reports in Honeywell's ERP system
  • Train junior welders on automation equipment and safety procedures
  • Collaborate on new product introductions (NPI) by developing weld procedures and fixturing solutions
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on welding power sources, torches, and robotic arms to achieve 99% uptime
