Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze client specifications and on-site team feedback to develop accurate cost estimates and quotations for fire suppression, detection, and protection systems.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, material pricing, and labor cost calculations using advanced estimating software.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure bids align with technical requirements and project timelines.
  • Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and regulatory standards (e.g., NFPA, EN standards) to mitigate risks in quoting.
  • Conduct value engineering analyses to optimize costs while maintaining safety and compliance.
  • Prepare and present bid packages, including breakdowns, assumptions, and exclusions, to secure high-value contracts.
  • Monitor market trends in fire safety materials and labor rates to maintain competitive pricing strategies.

  • Proficiency in estimating software such as OST, Candy, or Bluebeam Revu (experience)
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations (NFPA, EN 12845, local codes) (experience)
  • Fluency in English; additional languages (Dutch, French, German) preferred for international projects (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Construction Economics (experience)
  • Professional certifications such as RICS, CIOB, or NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (experience)
  • Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) for quantity takeoffs (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive cost estimates for fire detection, suppression, and alarm systems based on project drawings and specifications
  • Liaise with clients and on-site teams to clarify requirements and incorporate feedback into quotations
  • Perform risk assessments and scenario analyses to ensure bids are realistic and profitable
  • Negotiate with suppliers for accurate material pricing and lead times
  • Generate detailed bid documents, including BOQs (Bills of Quantities) and cost breakdowns
  • Support project handover by providing baseline cost data for budgeting and change orders
  • Continuously update estimating databases with historical project data for improved accuracy
