Key Responsibilities

  • Operate chemical processing equipment, including reactors, mixers, pumps, and distillation columns, following standard operating procedures (SOPs) to produce specialty chemicals.
  • Monitor process parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rates, and pH levels using distributed control systems (DCS) and make adjustments to maintain optimal production conditions.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on equipment to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operations.
  • Accurately measure, mix, and handle raw materials and chemicals while adhering to strict safety protocols and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct quality control tests on in-process and finished products, record data, and report deviations to supervisors for corrective action.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, participate in safety audits, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives like Lean Six Sigma projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other operators in shift handovers and team meetings to optimize production efficiency.

  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays (experience)
  • Strong commitment to safety with knowledge of OSHA standards and hazard communication (experience)
  • Basic proficiency in reading technical manuals, blueprints, and process flow diagrams (experience)
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a chemical plant environment (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering Technology or Chemistry (experience)
  • Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) certification or Process Technology credential (experience)
  • Experience with DCS systems like DeltaV or Honeywell Experion (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and monitor chemical reactors, distillation units, and blending systems to produce products meeting quality specifications
  • Perform in-process sampling, laboratory testing, and data logging using instruments like spectrometers and titrators
  • Execute batch charging, transfers, and packaging of chemical products while following batch records and recipes
  • Identify and report process abnormalities, participate in root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Conduct equipment inspections, cleanouts, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures during changeovers
  • Support inventory management by tracking raw materials and finished goods in ERP systems
  • Contribute to safety programs, including emergency response drills and behavioral safety observations
