Director Government Relations - Aerospace Technologies

This on-site role is pivotal in supporting our defense and space business segments by navigating the complex landscape of U.S. government relations, particularly with Congressional defense committees. Reporting to the Vice President of Government Affairs, you will champion Honeywell's legislative priorities, analyze defense policies, and build enduring political relationships to drive business success in a highly regulated industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage directly with Congressional defense committees, including Armed Services, Appropriations, and Intelligence committees, to advocate for Honeywell's aerospace defense and space programs.
  • Develop and execute strategies to secure legislative priorities, such as funding for key defense contracts, R&D initiatives, and export controls relevant to aerospace technologies.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of defense authorization bills, appropriation measures, and emerging policies to assess impacts on Honeywell's portfolio and recommend proactive responses.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key policymakers, staffers, industry associations, and stakeholders to position Honeywell as a trusted partner in national security.
  • Drive recruitment, training, and fundraising efforts for Honeywell's Political Action Committee (PAC), ensuring compliance with FEC regulations and maximizing political influence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, including legal, program management, and business development, to align government relations strategies with commercial objectives.
  • Monitor geopolitical trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscapes to provide executive briefings and strategic counsel to senior leadership.

  • Proven track record of engaging with U.S. Congressional committees, particularly defense-related authorizing and appropriating bodies (experience)
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. defense policy, federal budgeting processes, and relevant legislation such as NDAA and defense appropriations bills (experience)
  • Demonstrated success in managing Political Action Committees (PACs), including recruitment, compliance, and fundraising (experience)
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and policy analysis skills with the ability to translate complex issues into actionable business strategies (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or JD in Public Policy, Law, or related discipline (experience)
  • Prior experience working on Capitol Hill, in a defense agency (e.g., DoD), or at a major aerospace/defense contractor (experience)
  • Active security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) and familiarity with ITAR/export control regulations (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with Congressional members, staff, and defense committees to advance Honeywell's legislative agenda
  • Lead the development of advocacy campaigns to secure funding and policy wins for aerospace defense and space programs
  • Analyze proposed legislation, budgets, and regulatory changes to provide timely insights and recommendations to executive leadership
  • Oversee PAC operations, including employee recruitment drives, event planning, and compliance with federal election laws
