Overview

As the Director of Project Engineering, you will lead a high-performing team of engineers in delivering complex, mission-critical projects across Honeywell's diverse portfolio. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will oversee the end-to-end project lifecycle for aerospace systems, industrial automation, and advanced manufacturing initiatives. This hybrid role, based in the United States, offers flexibility to collaborate with global teams while advancing cutting-edge technologies that enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the strategic planning, execution, and delivery of multi-million-dollar engineering projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budgets.
  • Lead cross-functional teams of 20+ engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement project engineering methodologies, risk management frameworks, and quality assurance processes compliant with industry standards like AS9100 and ISO 9001.
  • Collaborate with executive stakeholders, customers, and suppliers to define project scopes, resolve technical challenges, and drive contractual success.
  • Champion the adoption of digital tools such as PLM systems, Agile methodologies, and AI-driven analytics to optimize project outcomes.
  • Mentor and develop talent, building a pipeline of future engineering leaders within Honeywell.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (experience)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in project engineering or program management within aerospace, defense, or industrial manufacturing sectors (experience)
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams and complex projects with budgets exceeding $10M (experience)
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards in a regulated environment (experience)
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent (experience)
  • Experience with engineering lifecycle tools such as Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, or similar PLM systems (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering Management, Business Administration, or related field (experience)
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license and/or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification (experience)
  • Experience in Honeywell or similar Fortune 100 engineering environments, with international project exposure (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full project engineering lifecycle from concept through design, development, testing, and deployment for aerospace and industrial systems
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for project health, including schedule variance, cost performance, and technical readiness levels
  • Identify and mitigate technical, schedule, and supply chain risks using advanced tools like Monte Carlo simulations and FMEA
  • Drive integration of emerging technologies such as IoT, digital twins, and additive manufacturing into project deliverables
  • Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure high-quality components while optimizing costs and lead times
  • Prepare executive-level reports and presentations on project status, forecasts, and lessons learned
  • Foster partnerships with R&D, operations, and sales teams to ensure seamless handoffs and customer satisfaction
