Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed failure analysis on electronic components and assemblies using advanced techniques such as X-ray radiography, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and cross-sectioning to identify root causes of failures.
  • Operate and maintain radiography equipment, including digital X-ray systems and CT scanners, ensuring high-resolution imaging for non-destructive testing (NDT).
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware malfunctions in avionics, sensors, and circuit boards, collaborating with design engineers to implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct reliability testing and environmental stress screening to validate product integrity under simulated real-world conditions.
  • Document findings in comprehensive reports, utilizing data analysis tools to generate actionable insights for process improvements.
  • Support production teams by training technicians on failure analysis protocols and ensuring compliance with industry standards like IPC and AS9100.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging lean methodologies to enhance lab efficiency and reduce turnaround times.

  • Proficiency in operating X-ray radiography and imaging equipment (experience)
  • Experience with electronic component troubleshooting and root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 8D, Fishbone) (experience)
  • Familiarity with IPC standards and quality management systems like AS9100 (experience)
  • Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • NAS410 or equivalent Level II certification in Radiographic Testing (experience)
  • Experience with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) or focused ion beam (FIB) analysis (experience)
  • Prior work in aerospace or defense electronics industries (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Execute failure analysis on electronic assemblies using radiography, microscopy, and electrical testing to determine failure modes
  • Operate and calibrate advanced imaging systems for high-precision defect detection and documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective actions for identified issues
  • Perform data analysis and generate detailed reports with recommendations for design and process enhancements
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and calibration standards
  • Support root cause investigations for field returns and production failures
  • Train junior technicians and contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions
