As an Embedded Engineer II, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of embedded software and firmware, driving technological advancements that power Honeywell's global portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test embedded software for microcontrollers and real-time operating systems (RTOS) in resource-constrained environments.
  • Implement low-level drivers, communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, CAN), and sensor integration for reliable system performance.
  • Perform debugging, optimization, and validation of firmware using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, systems architects, and quality assurance to deliver robust solutions.
  • Conduct code reviews, ensure adherence to coding standards (MISRA, CERT), and maintain documentation for traceability and compliance.
  • Support product lifecycle activities from requirements analysis through deployment and field support.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends in embedded technologies and contribute to innovation initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field from a recognized university (experience)
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in embedded software development for consumer electronics, automotive, or industrial applications (experience)
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems with hands-on experience in microcontroller architectures (ARM Cortex, AVR, PIC) (experience)
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or VxWorks (experience)
  • Strong understanding of embedded hardware-software integration, including peripherals and interfaces (experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an Agile/Scrum environment with version control tools like Git (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent (experience)
  • Certifications such as ARM Accredited Engineer or ISTQB Foundation Level (experience)
  • Experience with safety-critical systems (e.g., DO-178C, ISO 26262) or wireless protocols (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement embedded firmware for 32-bit microcontrollers, ensuring scalability and performance optimization
  • Develop and integrate communication stacks for protocols like Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and wireless interfaces
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) validation to achieve high code coverage
  • Debug complex issues using advanced tools and methodologies, resolving root causes in real-time systems
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to define interfaces and participate in design reviews for new product developments
  • Maintain and enhance existing codebases, applying refactoring techniques for improved maintainability
  • Document designs, APIs, and test results, contributing to regulatory compliance and knowledge sharing
