Embedded Engineer II

Location: Bangalore, Karnataka, India | Workplace: Hybrid

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement embedded software for real-time systems using C/C++ on microcontrollers and ARM-based processors.
  • Develop and optimize firmware for low-power IoT devices, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards like MISRA and DO-178C.
  • Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and debugging using tools like JTAG, oscilloscopes, and emulators.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, systems architects, and cross-functional teams to define requirements and resolve integration issues.
  • Perform code reviews, maintain version control with Git, and document software designs for traceability and scalability.
  • Support product lifecycle from concept through deployment, including root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to agile development processes in a fast-paced environment.

  • Hands-on experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr) and bare-metal programming (experience)
  • Strong understanding of microcontroller architectures (ARM Cortex-M, AVR) and peripherals (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN) (experience)
  • Experience with embedded testing tools and methodologies (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Embedded Systems or Computer Science (experience)
  • Certifications such as ISTQB, ARM Accredited Engineer, or MISRA compliance (experience)
  • Experience with aerospace standards (DO-178C, ARP4754A) or industrial protocols (Modbus, EtherCAT) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop embedded firmware for safety-critical applications, optimizing for performance, power, and memory constraints
  • Integrate sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces into embedded systems
  • Lead debugging and troubleshooting of complex hardware-software interactions using lab equipment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate system requirements into robust software designs
  • Implement secure boot, encryption, and OTA update mechanisms for IoT devices
  • Conduct peer code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
  • Contribute to risk assessments, FMEA, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
