Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement embedded software for microcontrollers and real-time operating systems (RTOS) in safety-critical applications.
  • Develop firmware for sensor integration, signal processing, and communication protocols such as CAN, I2C, SPI, and Ethernet.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and debugging using tools like JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Optimize code for low-power consumption, memory efficiency, and high-performance execution in resource-constrained environments.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, systems architects, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Document designs, create technical reports, and participate in code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality and compliance with industry standards like MISRA and DO-178C.
  • Support product lifecycle activities including requirements analysis, prototyping, and field issue resolution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field (experience)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software development for industrial or aerospace applications (experience)
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems with experience in bare-metal and RTOS environments (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with microcontroller architectures (ARM Cortex-M, AVR, PIC) and peripheral interfacing (experience)
  • Strong understanding of real-time systems, interrupt handling, and embedded debugging techniques (experience)
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and agile development methodologies (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or related field (experience)
  • Certifications such as ARM Accredited Engineer or ISTQB Foundation Level (experience)
  • Experience with safety-critical standards (DO-178C, ISO 26262) or model-based development tools (MATLAB/Simulink) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop embedded firmware for complex control systems using C/C++ and RTOS like FreeRTOS or VxWorks
  • Integrate sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces while ensuring low-latency and deterministic performance
  • Conduct thorough testing including static analysis, unit tests, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve embedded system issues in lab and field environments using advanced debugging tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and translate them into robust implementations
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews for scalability and maintainability
  • Stay updated with emerging embedded technologies and propose innovations to enhance product capabilities
