Embedded Engineer II

Overview

We are seeking a talented Embedded Engineer II to join our innovative team in India. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work 3 days in our state-of-the-art facility and 2 days remotely, fostering collaboration while supporting work-life balance. As an Embedded Engineer II, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing embedded systems for cutting-edge aerospace, industrial automation, and safety-critical applications. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will contribute to projects that power Honeywell’s global portfolio, driving technological advancements and ensuring mission-critical performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test embedded software for real-time systems using C/C++ on microcontrollers and ARM-based processors.
  • Implement and debug firmware for peripherals including sensors, actuators, communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet).
  • Optimize low-level drivers and RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr) for power efficiency, performance, and reliability in resource-constrained environments.
  • Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and support hardware-in-the-loop validation to ensure compliance with safety standards like DO-178C or ISO 26262.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, systems architects, and quality assurance to deliver robust solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in embedded systems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers.
  • Document designs, create technical reports, and participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality and traceability.

  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming for microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M, AVR, etc.) (experience)
  • Experience with RTOS such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or VxWorks (experience)
  • Strong understanding of embedded hardware interfaces and protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN) (experience)
  • Familiarity with embedded testing tools and methodologies (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or related field (experience)
  • Certifications like ARM Accredited Engineer or ISTQB Foundation (experience)
  • Experience with safety-critical systems (DO-178C, MISRA C compliance) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement embedded firmware for control systems, focusing on real-time performance and low-latency response
  • Develop and maintain device drivers for sensors, communication modules, and power management ICs
  • Perform system-level debugging and optimization to meet stringent power, memory, and timing constraints
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to define board bring-up procedures and support prototyping phases
  • Lead code reviews, static analysis, and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
  • Contribute to requirement analysis and design documentation for embedded subsystems
  • Support product lifecycle activities including verification, validation, and field issue resolution
