Embedded Engineer II

Location: Bangalore, India | Workplace: Hybrid

Overview

As an Embedded Engineer II at Honeywell, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and debugging embedded software and firmware for cutting-edge aerospace, building technologies, and performance materials solutions. Reporting directly to our Engineering Manager, you’ll work out of our Bangalore, Karnataka location on a hybrid work schedule, blending collaboration in our state-of-the-art facility with flexible remote options. In this mid-level position, you'll collaborate cross-functionally with hardware engineers, systems architects, and product managers to define requirements, innovate on real-time systems, and deliver projects on time, contributing to Honeywell's mission of advancing connected technologies that make the world safer, more comfortable, and efficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement embedded software and firmware using C/C++ for microcontrollers and RTOS environments like FreeRTOS or VxWorks.
  • Develop and debug low-level drivers for peripherals such as sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and translate system requirements into robust, scalable embedded solutions.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and optimization to ensure high reliability and performance under constrained resources.
  • Participate in code reviews, agile ceremonies, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Git and Jenkins.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in embedded systems, leveraging oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
  • Document designs, APIs, and test procedures to support maintainability and regulatory compliance (e.g., DO-178C for avionics).

  • Master's degree in Embedded Systems or related field (experience)
  • Certifications like ARM Accredited Engineer or ISTQB for embedded testing (experience)
  • Experience in safety-critical domains (e.g., avionics, automotive) with DO-178C or ISO 26262 compliance (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, and optimize embedded firmware for microcontrollers and SoCs in real-time applications
  • Develop and maintain device drivers and middleware for sensors, actuators, and wireless modules
