Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain FAA-approved cold spray systems to apply metallic coatings on turbine blades, engine components, and structural parts with precision and adherence to specifications.
  • Perform pre- and post-spray inspections using non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as ultrasonic and dye penetrant testing, to verify coating integrity and part conformance.
  • Prepare surfaces through grit blasting, masking, and cleaning to ensure optimal adhesion and coating quality per Honeywell and FAA standards.
  • Monitor process parameters including gas pressure, temperature, powder feed rates, and spray distances to achieve consistent, high-quality results.
  • Document all processing data, inspection results, and deviations in compliance with AS9100 quality management systems and FAA regulations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, perform routine maintenance, and collaborate with engineering teams to implement process improvements.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including PPE usage, hazardous material handling, and lockout/tagout procedures in a high-stakes manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards including AS9100, NADCAP, and FAA repair station requirements (experience)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced, on-site production environment (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or vocational training in materials science, welding, or aerospace manufacturing (experience)
  • NADCAP Auditor training or prior audit experience in coatings processes (experience)
  • 5+ years in cold spray repair for turbine engines or airframe components (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate cold spray robots or manual systems to deposit coatings on OEM and repaired parts, ensuring bond strength exceeds 5000 psi per specification
  • Conduct incoming and outgoing inspections using calibrated tools like profilometers, CMMs, and borescopes to validate dimensional accuracy and surface finish
  • Mix and load powder feedstock (e.g., titanium, inconel) while maintaining material traceability and shelf-life compliance
  • Analyze process data trends to identify and resolve variations, reducing scrap rates below 2%
  • Collaborate with quality assurance and engineering teams to qualify new cold spray parameters and support root cause analysis for non-conformances
  • Maintain detailed production logs and generate reports for FAA audits and customer submissions
  • Train junior processors on safe operations and participate in continuous improvement initiatives like Lean Six Sigma projects
