Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 5-10 machinists, providing hands-on guidance, training, and performance feedback to maintain high productivity and safety standards.

  • Perform first article inspections (FAI), blueprint reading, and GD&T analysis to ensure part conformance and quality control.

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience as a machinist in an aerospace or FAA-regulated manufacturing environment (experience)
  • 5+ years of leadership experience supervising machining teams (experience)
  • Proficient in CNC programming (Mastercam, G-code/M-code) and operation of 3-5 axis mills, lathes, and grinders (experience)
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, AS9100 standards, blueprint reading, GD&T, and precision measurement tools (micrometers, CMM) (experience)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work swing shift (3-11 PM) in a fast-paced production setting (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification or equivalent (experience)
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or experience with continuous improvement programs (experience)
  • Experience with exotic materials like titanium, Inconel, and composites in aerospace applications (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily huddles, assign tasks, and mentor junior machinists to achieve production targets and skill development
  • Set up, program, and operate CNC/multi-axis machines to fabricate tight-tolerance aerospace components
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision tools, ensuring 100% compliance with FAA and customer specs
  • Identify and implement process optimizations to reduce cycle times, scrap rates, and costs while maintaining quality
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues, manage material flow, and support prototype development
  • Maintain accurate production records, perform routine machine maintenance, and adhere to all EHS safety protocols
  • Drive team performance through KPI tracking, root cause analysis, and participation in kaizen events
