Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in producing high-reliability components for aerospace applications, contributing to manufacturing efficiency and innovation. This onsite position on the 1st shift offers a dynamic environment where your craftsmanship directly impacts the safety and performance of aircraft systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate complex sheet metal parts using hand tools, power tools, brakes, shears, and CNC machinery, ensuring dimensional accuracy to FAA-approved blueprints and specifications.
  • Assemble and install sheet metal structures, ducts, and enclosures, performing precision welds, rivets, and fasteners while adhering to aerospace quality control protocols.
  • Repair and modify existing sheet metal components, diagnosing defects and implementing corrective actions to meet non-destructive testing (NDT) standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections and testing of fabricated products, documenting results in compliance with FAA Part 145 repair station requirements and Honeywell's AS9100 quality management system.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot production issues, recommend process improvements, and support lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workspace, following OSHA, FAA, and Honeywell safety guidelines, including proper handling of hazardous materials and PPE usage.
  • Train and mentor junior sheet metal workers, sharing expertise to enhance team productivity and skill development.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, supplemented by completion of an FAA-approved aviation maintenance technician (AMT) program or equivalent apprenticeship (experience)
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a sheet metal worker in an FAA-regulated aerospace or aviation manufacturing environment (experience)
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification or Repairman certificate required (experience)
  • Proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, GD&T tolerances, and FAA technical orders (experience)
  • Experience with precision sheet metal fabrication tools including CNC brakes, shears, rollers, and plasma cutters (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology or Sheet Metal Technology (experience)
  • NDT Level II certification (e.g., ultrasonic, magnetic particle, or dye penetrant) (experience)
  • Experience with composite materials or hybrid metal-composite assemblies in aerospace applications (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate sheet metal aircraft components from raw materials using shear, brake press, punch, and forming tools to exact FAA specifications
  • Assemble structural and non-structural sheet metal parts via riveting, welding (TIG/MIG), and adhesive bonding, ensuring zero defects
  • Perform repairs on damaged sheet metal assemblies, blending and matching materials while complying with FAA Supplemental Type Certificates (STC)
  • Execute in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and CMMs, generating detailed quality reports
  • Optimize production workflows by identifying bottlenecks and implementing 5S and lean principles to reduce cycle times
  • Maintain accurate records in Honeywell's ERP system and FAA Form 337 for all major repairs and alterations
  • Support prototype development and first article inspections (FAI) for new product introductions
