Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, commissioning, and testing of Honeywell field instrumentation, control systems, and automation solutions at customer sites.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic field devices under supervision.
  • Document service activities, generate field reports, and update system databases using Honeywell's proprietary software tools.
  • Support root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions to ensure operational reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, and customers, to deliver technical support and training.
  • Participate in safety audits and ensure compliance with Honeywell's EHS standards and local regulations during field operations.

Summary

  • Basic understanding of field instrumentation, control systems, or industrial automation (experience)
  • Availability for full-time on-site work in Markham, ON, Canada for the duration of the internship (typically 4-6 months or summer term) (experience)
  • Valid work authorization in Canada (experience)
  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally up to 25% for field assignments (experience)
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and hands-on technical learning (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of relevant coursework in PLC programming, sensors, or industrial controls (experience)
  • Prior co-op, internship, or lab experience with electrical/mechanical systems (experience)
  • Familiarity with Honeywell or similar DCS/SCADA systems (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians in installing and configuring field devices such as pressure transmitters, flow meters, and valve actuators at client sites
  • Conduct routine inspections, calibrations, and diagnostics on control systems using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and Honeywell diagnostic software
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in real-time during field service calls, documenting findings and recommendations in detailed service reports
  • Support system integration testing to verify performance against customer specifications and industry standards
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to provide feedback on product improvements based on field observations
  • Participate in customer training sessions on equipment operation and basic maintenance procedures
  • Maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and safety gear while adhering to all site-specific protocols
