Job Overview

As a Fitter Journeyman in our Field Service Support team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality maintenance and installation services for industrial systems, including aerospace components, process controls, and building technologies. Reporting to the Field Service Supervisor, you will work on-site at customer locations across the United States, ensuring equipment operates at peak performance. This hands-on position requires precision, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety in dynamic industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform precise assembly, disassembly, fitting, and alignment of mechanical components, piping systems, and structural elements using blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to identify faults and implement corrective actions during field service calls.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on industrial equipment, ensuring compliance with Honeywell quality standards and OSHA regulations.
  • Coordinate with field service teams to schedule installations, upgrades, and emergency repairs, optimizing resource allocation and minimizing downtime.
  • Fabricate custom parts and modifications using welding, machining, and fitting tools, while maintaining accurate documentation of work performed.
  • Support administrative duties such as logging service reports, inventory tracking, and customer communication to facilitate seamless service delivery.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, PPE usage, and hazard assessments in high-risk environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Journeyman Fitter certification or equivalent trade qualification from a recognized apprenticeship program (experience)
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a fitter in industrial, manufacturing, or field service environments (experience)
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics (experience)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively within the United States (experience)
  • Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and physical fitness assessments for on-site work (experience)
  • High school diploma or GED with demonstrated mechanical aptitude (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Welder or equivalent welding certification (experience)
  • Experience servicing Honeywell aerospace or process control systems (experience)
  • OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety training (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and fit mechanical components with micron-level precision using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical failures in real-time field conditions to restore system functionality
  • Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks on metals and alloys per engineering specifications
  • Inspect and test equipment post-repair to verify performance against OEM standards and generate detailed service reports
  • Coordinate logistics for parts procurement, tool kits, and team scheduling to ensure timely service delivery
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inventory usage, and compliance documentation in Honeywell's digital systems
  • Mentor apprentices and collaborate with engineers to recommend process improvements and preventive maintenance strategies
