Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex hardware systems, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection for aerospace and industrial applications.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, firmware developers, and manufacturing teams to define requirements, perform trade studies, and ensure design feasibility.
  • Conduct rigorous testing, validation, and debugging of prototypes using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and environmental chambers.
  • Support production ramp-up by resolving yield issues, implementing design for manufacturability (DFM), and providing sustaining engineering support.
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives such as Six Sigma and lean manufacturing.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IPC, MIL-STD, DO-160) and Honeywell quality processes throughout the product lifecycle.

Summary

As a Hardware Engineer II here at Honeywell, you will contribute to hardware design from concept to production, collaborate on requirements, design complex systems, perform testing, and support junior engineers. You will report directly to our Senior Hardware Engineer Supervisor, and you’ll work out of our Fort Washington, PA location on a Hybrid work schedule.

  • Proficiency in schematic design and PCB layout using tools like Altium Designer or Cadence Allegro (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with hardware prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting complex circuits (experience)
  • Familiarity with signal integrity, power distribution, and mixed-signal design principles (experience)
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and reliability testing in production environments (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Certifications such as IPC CID+ or Six Sigma Green Belt (experience)
  • Experience with aerospace standards (e.g., DO-254, MIL-STD) or high-reliability hardware design (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed hardware designs from concept to production, including requirements analysis and architecture definition
  • Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, and bill of materials (BOM) generation for multi-layer boards
  • Execute hardware testing protocols, including functional, environmental, and EMC/EMI compliance testing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware with firmware and software components
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead design reviews to ensure best practices and innovation
  • Analyze and resolve production issues, implementing root cause corrections and process improvements
  • Document designs, test results, and engineering changes per Honeywell quality management systems
