We are seeking a Senior Field Service Technician - HVAC Controls to join our Building Automation team. This on-site role, based anywhere in the United States, involves traveling to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, and optimize complex HVAC control systems. As a key player in our service operations, you will ensure seamless building performance, energy efficiency, and customer satisfaction for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. With Honeywell's cutting-edge Niagara Framework and WEBs platforms, you'll work on innovative projects that drive sustainability and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and upgrades on HVAC control systems, including DDC (Direct Digital Controls), sensors, actuators, and BACnet/IP networks.
  • Commission and configure building automation systems using Honeywell's proprietary software tools to meet project specifications and client requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues in real-time at customer sites, utilizing oscilloscopes, multimeters, and network analyzers to resolve electrical, mechanical, and software faults.
  • Conduct site surveys, system assessments, and preventive maintenance to optimize HVAC performance and ensure compliance with energy codes like ASHRAE 90.1.
  • Train end-users and junior technicians on system operation, maintenance best practices, and Honeywell's digital service platforms.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and project management teams to provide technical expertise during pre-sales consultations and post-installation support.
  • Maintain detailed service reports, update as-built drawings, and ensure all work adheres to OSHA safety standards and Honeywell quality protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in HVAC Technology, Building Automation, Electrical Engineering, or related field (experience)
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Field Service Technician in HVAC controls and building automation systems (experience)
  • Proven expertise in DDC systems, PLC programming, and BACnet/LON protocols (experience)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 75% domestically (experience)
  • Experience with Honeywell Niagara Framework or equivalent BAS platforms (experience)
  • Strong safety record with knowledge of OSHA and NFPA 70E standards (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Niagara N4 or Honeywell WEBs certification (experience)
  • 7+ years in commercial HVAC service with large-scale projects (experience)
  • Experience with centrifugal chillers, VFDs, and pneumatic-to-DDC conversions (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair HVAC control hardware and software issues using advanced diagnostic tools to minimize downtime
  • Install and commission new control panels, controllers, and field devices in compliance with design specifications
  • Program and integrate building management systems (BMS) for optimal energy management and occupant comfort
  • Perform root cause analysis on system failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of HVAC sequences for efficiency gains
  • Document all service activities in Honeywell's service management software and provide client handover reports
  • Mentor junior technicians and collaborate on multi-disciplinary project teams
