Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid Workplace)

Overview

Join Honeywell's Industrial Automation (IA) business unit as an Industrial Maintenance Technician specializing in Conveyor Systems on the weekend shift. In this critical role, you'll deliver hands-on technical service and troubleshooting for advanced material handling equipment, ensuring maximum reliability, efficiency, and safety. Reporting to the Field Service Engineering Manager, you'll work primarily on-site at customer locations in the Dallas area, with hybrid flexibility for planning and reporting. Your expertise in PLCs, robotics, sensors, and mechanical systems will directly enhance customer operations, reduce downtime, and drive satisfaction in fast-paced industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on conveyor systems, including belt drives, rollers, motors, and automated sorting mechanisms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, VFDs, and robotic integration to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Conduct system optimizations and upgrades to improve throughput, energy efficiency, and safety compliance.
  • Document service activities, generate detailed reports, and provide training to customer maintenance teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and sales, to support installation, commissioning, and 24/7 emergency response.
  • Adhere to OSHA, NFPA, and Honeywell safety standards while working on live industrial systems.

Summary

As a Sr. Field Service Technician at Honeywell in Dallas location, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our Industrial Automation (IA) business unit by delivering expert technical service and troubleshooting complex systems.   • Proven expertise in PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens preferred) and industrial automation (experience)
  • Experience with sensors, VFDs, robotics, and mechanical systems in material handling equipment (experience)
  • Ability to travel locally (Dallas area) and work weekend shifts (e.g., Fri-Sun, 6pm-6am) (experience)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass background/drug screening (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline (experience)
  • Certifications such as ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) or RETA Industrial Refrigeration (experience)
  • Experience with Honeywell or similar automation platforms and CMMS software (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults in conveyor systems using test equipment and schematics
  • Program and modify PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and safety interlocks to optimize system performance
  • Perform root cause analysis on failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Install and commission new conveyor modules, ensuring seamless integration with existing warehouse automation
  • Maintain accurate service records in Honeywell's digital platforms and provide uptime metrics to customers
  • Train on-site personnel on maintenance best practices and safety protocols
  • Respond to emergency service calls, achieving rapid resolution to support 24/7 operations
