Reporting directly to the Quality Engineering Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining compliance with FAA regulations, AS9100 standards, and customer specifications. As a Level 3 Inspector, you will leverage your FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification and extensive experience to independently perform complex inspections, mentor junior staff, and drive continuous improvement in our manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed visual, dimensional, and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections on aircraft parts, assemblies, and finished products to verify conformance to engineering drawings, blueprints, and FAA requirements.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools, CMMs, and automated inspection equipment, documenting results in Honeywell's quality management system (QMS).
  • Identify and disposition non-conforming materials through root cause analysis, collaborating with engineering and production teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Review and approve manufacturing documentation, including First Article Inspection (FAI) reports per AS9102 standards, ensuring full traceability and regulatory compliance.
  • Mentor Level 1 and 2 inspectors, conduct training sessions on inspection techniques, and participate in internal audits to uphold quality standards.
  • Interface with customers and regulatory agencies during source inspections and FAA audits, providing technical expertise and resolving quality issues promptly.
  • Drive process improvements using Lean Six Sigma methodologies to enhance inspection efficiency and reduce defects.

  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and aerospace specifications (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP) (experience)
  • Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as ultrasonic, magnetic particle, or dye penetrant (experience)
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Aviation Maintenance or related field preferred (experience)
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required due to ITAR compliance (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or similar certification (experience)
  • Experience with Honeywell or OEM quality management systems (e.g., SAP, Solumina) (experience)
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Execute precise inspections using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and CMMs to validate part dimensions and tolerances
  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections, generating detailed reports and maintaining accurate records in QMS
  • Conduct root cause investigations for defects using tools like 8D and fishbone diagrams, implementing preventive measures
  • Approve FAI packages and support customer source inspections with detailed documentation and evidence
  • Train and certify junior inspectors on procedures, tools, and safety protocols
  • Participate in MRB (Material Review Board) meetings to disposition non-conformances efficiently
  • Monitor and report key quality metrics, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
