Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and prototyping hardware components for embedded systems, including schematic capture and PCB layout using tools like Altium Designer or Cadence Allegro.
  • Conduct hardware testing, debugging, and validation using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and environmental chambers to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and systems architects, to integrate hardware with firmware and software ecosystems.
  • Support the development of Bill of Materials (BOM), perform component selection, and optimize designs for cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and failure mode analysis (FMEA) to contribute to robust hardware solutions.
  • Document engineering designs, test results, and processes using Honeywell's standard tools and methodologies.

  • Hands-on experience with hardware design, prototyping, or lab work through coursework, projects, or personal initiatives (experience)
  • Basic understanding of analog/digital circuit design, microcontrollers, and embedded systems (experience)
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship (experience)
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or co-op experience in hardware engineering or related field (experience)
  • Familiarity with aerospace, industrial automation, or IoT hardware standards (experience)
  • Completion of relevant certifications like IPC-A-610 or basic PCB design (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and simulate hardware circuits using SPICE tools and EDA software for Honeywell's aerospace and building automation products
  • Build and test prototypes, troubleshooting issues in power management, signal integrity, and RF subsystems
  • Collaborate with firmware teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration for embedded applications
  • Analyze component datasheets and perform thermal, mechanical, and EMC simulations to meet design specifications
  • Contribute to design documentation, including schematics, Gerber files, and assembly drawings
  • Support root cause analysis for hardware failures using advanced diagnostic tools
  • Participate in team meetings to present progress and propose innovative hardware improvements
