Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive legal counsel on commercial contracts, intellectual property, and corporate transactions to drive business objectives.
  • Lead compliance programs for U.S. and international regulations, including data privacy (GDPR, CCPA), export controls, and product liability.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review complex agreements such as supplier contracts, partnerships, and customer licenses.
  • Advise on risk management strategies for mergers, acquisitions, and new market entries in the building technologies sector.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, and finance teams to align legal strategies with product innovation and go-to-market plans.
  • Represent the company in litigation, investigations, and regulatory inquiries, minimizing exposure and costs.
  • Mentor junior legal staff and contribute to policy development for ethical business practices.

Required Qualifications

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state (experience)
  • 7+ years of relevant legal experience, with 4+ years in corporate/commercial law at a law firm or in-house at a technology or manufacturing company (experience)
  • Proven experience advising on contracts, IP protection, and regulatory compliance in the building technologies, IoT, or industrial sectors (experience)
  • Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state laws, including export controls (ITAR/EAR), data privacy, and product safety regulations (experience)
  • Experience managing legal risks in global supply chains and commercial transactions (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in mergers & acquisitions or strategic partnerships in the smart buildings industry (experience)
  • Bar admission in multiple jurisdictions or international legal experience (experience)
  • MBA or advanced degree in business, engineering, or related field (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal advice to Honeywell Building Solutions leadership on business initiatives, contracts, and risk mitigation
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage high-value commercial agreements, including SaaS licenses, OEM partnerships, and procurement contracts
  • Develop and implement compliance training programs for regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and NIST cybersecurity standards
  • Conduct due diligence and support M&A activities, joint ventures, and technology licensing deals
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal alignment in product development, marketing, and sales strategies
  • Investigate and respond to legal disputes, regulatory inquiries, and internal ethics matters
  • Monitor emerging legal trends in building automation, sustainability, and digital transformation to proactively advise the business
