Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and requirements definition for avionics systems, including flight management, navigation, and communication subsystems.
  • Develop and validate system models using tools like DOORS, Cameo, and MATLAB/Simulink to ensure robust performance under diverse flight conditions.
  • Oversee integration testing, hardware-in-the-loop simulations, and flight qualification processes to meet safety-critical standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams in software, hardware, and certification to deliver on-time projects.
  • Conduct risk assessments, trade studies, and failure modes analysis (FMEA) to optimize system reliability and performance.
  • Interface with customers and regulatory bodies to support certification artifacts and resolve technical challenges.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Avionics, or a related technical field (experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in avionics systems engineering, including design and integration for certified aircraft systems (experience)
  • Proven track record with RTCA DO-178C/DO-254 processes and ARP4754A systems engineering standards (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with avionics hardware such as ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, and GPS/INS integration (experience)
  • Strong understanding of FAA/EASA certification processes and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) (experience)
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams on complex aerospace projects (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Professional certifications such as INCOSE CSEP or FAA DER in Systems (experience)
  • Experience with Honeywell avionics products or similar (e.g., Primus Epic, IntuVue) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and define requirements for avionics systems using MBSE tools like Cameo Systems Modeler
  • Lead system integration and verification activities, including HIL and SIL testing environments
  • Perform trade studies and risk analyses to optimize system performance, weight, and power consumption
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and certification teams to ensure compliance with DO-178C Level A standards
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers in best practices for avionics development and troubleshooting
  • Support customer demonstrations, proposal development, and regulatory audits
  • Drive innovation in emerging technologies like autonomous flight and sustainable aviation fuels integration
