Lead Field Service Technician - HVAC / Building Automation

Location: United States (Hybrid Workplace) | $5K Sign-On Bonus

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure HVAC and BAS components, including controllers, sensors, actuators, and networking equipment.
  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on complex automation systems to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency.
  • Respond promptly to emergency service calls, providing on-site resolutions and documenting findings.
  • Train end-users and client staff on system operation, maintenance best practices, and Honeywell software tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, and clients to recommend system upgrades and performance improvements.
  • Maintain accurate service records, generate reports, and stay updated on emerging technologies like Niagara Framework and BACnet protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, Building Automation, or related field (experience)
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC systems and building automation service (experience)
  • Proven track record in field service, troubleshooting, and maintenance of commercial BAS (experience)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites nationwide (experience)
  • Experience leading junior technicians or small teams in service operations (experience)
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ASHRAE, NEC, and building codes (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Niagara N4 or Tridium certification (experience)
  • Honeywell WEBS or ComfortPoint systems experience (experience)
  • OEM certifications from Johnson Controls, Siemens, or Trane (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead installation and commissioning of HVAC and BAS equipment, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues in control systems using diagnostic tools and software like Honeywell's Spyder or EBI
  • Execute preventive maintenance schedules, calibrating sensors and optimizing energy performance
  • Respond to urgent service calls, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
  • Provide comprehensive training sessions for clients on system interfaces and troubleshooting procedures
  • Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to identify upgrade opportunities and propose tailored solutions
  • Document all service activities in CRM systems and prepare detailed reports for continuous improvement
