Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design and development of mechanical components and assemblies for repair and overhaul (R&O) applications, utilizing tools like SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX.
  • Mentor and guide a team of engineers, conducting design reviews, FEA simulations, and tolerance stack-up analyses to optimize product performance.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to ensure designs are producible, cost-effective, and compliant with aerospace standards such as AS9100 and FAA regulations.
  • Develop and validate prototypes through rigorous testing protocols, including vibration, thermal cycling, and fatigue analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies to reduce design cycle times and enhance reliability.
  • Interface with customers and stakeholders to translate requirements into robust engineering solutions, managing project timelines and budgets effectively.

  • Proven track record in designing mechanical systems for aerospace, repair, or overhaul applications (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, NX) and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) (experience)
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, materials science, and manufacturing processes relevant to aerospace components (experience)
  • Experience with regulatory compliance in aerospace (e.g., FAA, EASA, AS9100) (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification (e.g., Six Sigma Green Belt) (experience)
  • Experience leading projects in MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) for turbine engines or airframes (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the conceptual and detailed design of mechanical components and assemblies using advanced CAD and simulation tools
  • Conduct finite element analysis (FEA), kinematic simulations, and tolerance analyses to validate designs
  • Mentor junior engineers and conduct technical reviews to ensure design quality and adherence to standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, testing, and procurement to transition designs to production
  • Develop test plans and oversee prototype validation, including environmental and durability testing
  • Identify and implement design improvements for cost reduction, weight optimization, and enhanced reliability
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, drawings, and certification packages
