Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and integration of CNS systems, including VHF/UHF communication radios, GPS/RNAV navigation equipment, and ADS-B surveillance transponders.
  • Manage end-to-end project lifecycles, from requirements gathering and system architecture to testing, validation, and FAA/EASA certification.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware designers, and regulatory experts, to deliver compliant solutions on time and within budget.
  • Conduct risk assessments, perform system modeling and simulations using tools like MATLAB/Simulink, and troubleshoot complex technical issues.

  • Proven track record leading projects through DO-178C/DO-254 certification processes (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with communication protocols (e.g., ARINC 429, 664), navigation algorithms, and surveillance systems (ADS-B, TCAS) (experience)
  • Strong understanding of FAA/EASA regulations and RTCA standards (experience)
  • Experience with system integration and verification testing in avionics environments (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Professional certifications such as INCOSE Systems Engineering or PMP (experience)
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and tools like Cameo Systems Modeler (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural design and development of advanced CNS solutions for commercial and military aircraft
  • Oversee system requirements definition, traceability, and verification against aviation standards
  • Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis of CNS performance using tools like MATLAB, Simulink, or STK
  • Coordinate with suppliers and stakeholders to integrate third-party CNS components seamlessly
  • Conduct rigorous testing, including HIL/SIL simulations and flight trials, to ensure system reliability
  • Drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis and implementation of best practices
  • Mentor and develop team members while reporting project status to senior leadership
