Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional project teams in the design, development, and certification of military flight systems, ensuring compliance with FAA, MIL-STD, and DO-178C standards.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, fostering skill development and knowledge transfer on complex engineering challenges.
  • Develop and execute project plans, including risk assessments, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for high-stakes MFW programs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, to define requirements and resolve technical issues.
  • Drive innovation by integrating advanced technologies such as model-based systems engineering, digital twins, and AI-driven simulations into project workflows.
  • Conduct design reviews, failure mode analyses (FMEA), and verification testing to validate system performance under extreme operational conditions.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace project engineering, with focus on military flight worthiness or avionics systems (experience)
  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams on complex, multi-phase projects (experience)
  • In-depth knowledge of aerospace regulations including DO-178C, DO-254, MIL-STD-810, and ARP4754A (experience)
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Cameo, or MATLAB/Simulink (experience)
  • U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or INCOSE certification (experience)
  • Experience with military aircraft certification programs or flight testing (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full project lifecycle from requirements definition through design, integration, verification, and certification for MFW-compliant systems
  • Mentor and guide a team of 5-10 engineers, conducting performance reviews and technical training sessions
  • Perform trade studies and risk analyses to optimize system designs for reliability, weight, and cost
  • Interface with DoD customers and OEMs to align project deliverables with mission requirements
  • Implement agile methodologies and digital engineering practices to accelerate project timelines
  • Conduct root cause analysis for anomalies and implement corrective actions using Six Sigma tools
  • Prepare and present technical reports, gate reviews, and certification artifacts to leadership
