Overview

In this critical role, you will perform advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) and quality inspections on aerospace components, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and Honeywell's rigorous standards. As a Level 4 Inspector, you will leverage your expertise in NDT methods to oversee inspections, mentor junior staff, and drive continuous improvement in our production processes. This hybrid position offers a night shift schedule (typically 10 PM - 6:30 AM, Sunday-Thursday), providing a dynamic environment with opportunities for professional growth in a cutting-edge facility producing mission-critical aerospace parts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Level 4 NDT inspections using ultrasonic testing (UT), radiographic testing (RT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and penetrant testing (PT) on complex aerospace components, interpreting results to identify defects per FAA and AS9100 standards.
  • Develop, review, and approve NDT procedures, techniques, and personnel certifications in accordance with NAS410 and FAA Advisory Circulars.
  • Perform final quality assurance audits on production lots, ensuring 100% compliance with Honeywell quality management systems and customer specifications.
  • Mentor and train Level 1-3 inspectors, conducting performance evaluations and facilitating certification renewals.
  • Investigate non-conformances, root cause analysis using tools like 8D and Fishbone diagrams, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and supplier quality teams to resolve technical issues and optimize inspection processes for efficiency and reliability.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation in electronic quality systems, generating reports for FAA audits and internal reviews.

  • In-depth knowledge of FAA regulations (14 CFR Part 21/145), AS9100, and ISO 9001 quality standards (experience)
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes (e.g., 8D, CAPA) (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or related field (experience)
  • Experience with automated NDT systems or phased array ultrasonics (PAUT) (experience)
  • Prior supervisory experience in a high-volume aerospace production environment (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Execute advanced NDT inspections on critical aerospace components, ensuring zero-escape defects through precise technique application and data interpretation
  • Audit and approve NDT procedures, work instructions, and technician qualifications to maintain FAA compliance
  • Lead investigations into quality escapes, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures
  • Train and certify NDT personnel, fostering a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement
  • Interface with FAA auditors and customers during inspections and certifications
  • Optimize inspection processes using lean methodologies to reduce cycle times without compromising quality
  • Maintain accurate records in QMS software and prepare detailed reports for management review
