Overview

Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, you will optimize schedules, troubleshoot complex machining issues, and implement continuous improvements to enhance operational efficiency. As a key contributor to Honeywell's aerospace and advanced manufacturing divisions, you will play a vital role in producing precision components that power cutting-edge technologies for global industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and set up CNC lathes, mills, and multi-axis machining centers to produce high-precision parts from materials like titanium, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Lead a team of 4-6 junior machinists, providing hands-on training, performance feedback, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and production timelines.
  • Develop and optimize machining programs using G-code and CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam or SolidWorks) to minimize cycle times and material waste.
  • Perform in-process inspections using precision tools such as CMMs, micrometers, and optical comparators to verify conformance to blueprints and tolerances down to ±0.0005 inches.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve non-conformances, implement root cause analysis via Lean Six Sigma methodologies, and drive process improvements.
  • Manage inventory of tooling and consumables, coordinate preventive maintenance on equipment, and update production schedules in ERP systems like SAP.
  • Ensure compliance with Honeywell's safety standards, ISO 9001/AS9100 quality systems, and environmental regulations.

  • Proficient in operating CNC mills, lathes, and grinders; experience with 3-5 axis machining centers (experience)
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) interpretation skills (experience)
  • Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001 or AS9100 (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyman Machinist certification or NIMS credentials (experience)
  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing (experience)
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Set up, program, and operate CNC and manual machining equipment to produce complex parts meeting exact specifications
  • Lead and mentor a team of machinists, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and fostering a safety-first culture
  • Inspect machined components using precision metrology tools and document results in quality databases
  • Optimize machining processes to reduce cycle times, scrap rates, and costs while maintaining quality
  • Collaborate with production planners and engineers to adjust schedules and resolve production bottlenecks
  • Perform routine maintenance on machining tools and equipment to ensure uptime and reliability
  • Conduct root cause analysis for defects and implement corrective actions using structured problem-solving methods
