Major Projects Sales Representative - Building Automation

Location: United States (KS, MN, IA, WI, IL, MO) | Workplace: Hybrid

We are seeking a dynamic Major Projects Sales Representative to drive sales of our advanced building automation systems (BAS) to major projects across the Midwest region. In this role, you will partner with general contractors, mechanical/electrical contractors, and consulting engineers to deliver innovative HVAC controls, energy management, and integrated building solutions that optimize performance and reduce operational costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect, qualify, and close complex sales opportunities for large-scale building automation projects valued at $500K+.
  • Conduct needs assessments and technical demonstrations to showcase Honeywell's BAS portfolio, including Niagara Framework and WEBs controllers.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders in the construction ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, product, and channel teams to craft customized proposals and bids.
  • Negotiate contracts, manage sales pipelines, and achieve quarterly/annual revenue targets.
  • Provide market intelligence on competitor activities and emerging trends in smart buildings.
  • Deliver post-sale support to ensure customer satisfaction and identify upsell opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related technical field (experience)
  • 5+ years of proven sales experience in building automation, HVAC controls, or industrial controls (experience)
  • Demonstrated track record of closing major projects ($500K+) with contractors and engineers (experience)
  • Strong understanding of building systems including HVAC, fire/life safety, and energy management (experience)
  • Proficiency with CRM tools like Salesforce and sales forecasting methodologies (experience)
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% within KS, MN, IA, WI, IL, and MO (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or MBA (experience)
  • BACnet, Niagara, or LonWorks certifications (experience)
  • Experience selling to general contractors in commercial construction (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue major project leads through networking, trade shows, and industry events
  • Perform technical sales presentations and ROI analyses to influence engineering specifications
  • Prepare and present competitive bids, value propositions, and contract negotiations
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver turnkey BAS solutions from design to commissioning
  • Maintain accurate sales pipelines and forecasts using Salesforce to exceed quotas
  • Build long-term partnerships with consulting engineers to secure repeat business
  • Monitor project performance post-installation to drive customer loyalty and expansions
