As a Mechanical Design Engineering Manager at Honeywell, you will lead a high-performing team of mechanical design engineers driving cutting-edge solutions in aerospace, building technologies, and performance materials. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems and components for aerospace and industrial applications, ensuring compliance with rigorous industry standards.
  • Mentor and manage a team of 8-12 engineers, fostering innovation, professional growth, and accountability for project deliverables.
  • Oversee CAD modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), and prototyping processes using tools like SolidWorks, ANSYS, and NX.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance to integrate designs into production.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies to reduce design cycle times and enhance product reliability.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources while mitigating risks in complex mechanical design projects.
  • Interface with customers and stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable engineering solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution (experience)
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role (experience)
  • Proven track record managing engineering teams in aerospace, automotive, or industrial sectors (experience)
  • Expertise in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or NX) and simulation tools (ANSYS, FEA) (experience)
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, GD&T, and ASME/ISO standards (experience)
  • Experience with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or MBA (experience)
  • Professional certifications such as PE, Six Sigma Black Belt, or PMP (experience)
  • Experience in sustainable design or additive manufacturing (3D printing) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Direct the full lifecycle of mechanical design projects from concept to production, ensuring on-time delivery and budget adherence
  • Recruit, develop, and performance-manage a team of mechanical engineers to achieve departmental goals
  • Conduct design reviews, FEA simulations, and tolerance stack-up analyses to validate component performance
  • Collaborate with global R&D teams to innovate eco-friendly mechanical solutions for aerospace applications
  • Implement design for manufacturability (DFM) principles to optimize costs and quality
  • Prepare technical reports, present to senior leadership, and support regulatory compliance audits
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for design-related issues using tools like 8D and PFMEA
