Mechanical Design Engineer II

Location: India | Workplace: On-site

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software, ensuring compliance with design specifications, tolerances, and manufacturability.
  • Perform detailed engineering analysis including stress, thermal, vibration, and fatigue simulations using tools like ANSYS or similar FEA software.
  • Lead design reviews, prototype development, and testing phases to validate performance and reliability under real-world conditions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain to optimize designs for cost, weight, and production efficiency.
  • Generate comprehensive technical documentation, including 2D drawings, BOMs, and engineering change orders in adherence to ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
  • Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma methodologies to enhance product quality and reduce time-to-market.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to innovation efforts by exploring new materials and manufacturing processes.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design engineering within aerospace, automotive, or industrial sectors (experience)
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software such as Creo, SolidWorks, or NX (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools like ANSYS for structural and thermal simulations (experience)
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), material science, and manufacturing processes (experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (experience)
  • Professional certifications such as Six Sigma Green Belt or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (experience)
  • Experience with design for aerospace applications or additive manufacturing (3D printing) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex mechanical components and assemblies using advanced CAD tools to meet performance, weight, and cost targets
  • Conduct engineering analyses including static/dynamic FEA, CFD, and tolerance stack-up studies to ensure design robustness
  • Lead prototype fabrication, assembly, and validation testing, iterating designs based on test data and failure analysis
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and procurement teams to select materials and processes that optimize producibility and supply chain efficiency
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation compliant with industry standards
  • Participate in design reviews and risk assessments, implementing DFMEA and PFMEA methodologies
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance product reliability and reduce development cycle times
