Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ASME and ISO.
  • Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to validate designs for stress, thermal, and vibration performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and manufacturing specialists, to integrate mechanical designs into full product systems.
  • Conduct prototype testing, analyze results, and iterate designs to optimize reliability, manufacturability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Support root cause analysis for design issues using tools like 8D and fishbone diagrams, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input on risk assessments and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).

  • 0-2 years of experience in mechanical design or a related engineering role (internships count) (experience)
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, or NX (experience)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, dynamics, and materials science (experience)
  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance stack-up analysis (experience)
  • Ability to obtain security clearance if required for specific projects (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (experience)
  • Certifications such as Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) or Six Sigma Green Belt (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with additive manufacturing or rapid prototyping techniques (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for mechanical components and assemblies using CAD tools
  • Conduct engineering simulations (FEA/CFD) to predict and optimize product performance under real-world conditions
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure designs are producible and meet DFM/DFA principles
  • Perform tolerance analysis and GD&T application to achieve precise fit and function
  • Lead prototype builds, testing, and validation, documenting results for design iterations
  • Support failure investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies like 8D
  • Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and FMEA to mitigate potential issues early
