Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for aerospace products using CAD tools like CATIA or SolidWorks.
  • Perform structural, thermal, and vibration analysis using FEA software such as ANSYS to validate designs and ensure airworthiness.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for field issues, reducing downtime and improving product reliability.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and sustainment teams to optimize designs for producibility and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support certification and qualification processes, preparing documentation for FAA/EASA compliance.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the product support lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution (experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design for aerospace or related industries (experience)
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks) and GD&T (ASME Y14.5) (experience)
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools like ANSYS or NASTRAN (experience)
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and regulatory standards (FAA, EASA) (experience)
  • Proven track record in product support, sustainment, or MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul) environments (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (experience)
  • ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Six Sigma Green Belt (experience)
  • Experience with aerospace propulsion systems or airframe components (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design, model, and detail mechanical components and assemblies for aerospace product support using advanced CAD software
  • Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) for stress, thermal, and dynamic simulations to ensure design integrity under operational loads
  • Lead failure investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and implementation of engineering changes for in-service products
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality assurance, and suppliers to resolve design-for-manufacturability issues
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, test plans, and certification reports compliant with aerospace standards
  • Support product lifecycle management, obsolescence mitigation, and cost reduction initiatives
  • Mentor junior engineers and participate in design reviews to uphold best practices and innovation
