Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, modeling, and simulation of mechanical components using CAD software like SolidWorks or Creo.

  • Support prototyping, testing, and iteration of mechanical systems, including assembly and disassembly of test fixtures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers and manufacturing specialists, to integrate designs into production workflows.
  • Analyze test data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to engineering leads during design reviews.

  • Hands-on experience through prior internships, capstone projects, or engineering clubs (e.g., Formula SAE) (experience)
  • Proficiency in programming languages like MATLAB or Python for data analysis (experience)
  • Exposure to aerospace or manufacturing environments (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and model mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD tools to meet performance specifications
  • Perform structural and thermal analyses using FEA/CFD software to optimize designs for weight, strength, and efficiency
  • Fabricate prototypes and conduct laboratory testing to validate design assumptions and iterate based on results
  • Document engineering work through detailed reports, drawings, and presentations for team reviews and stakeholder updates
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure designs are producible and compliant with aerospace standards
  • Support root cause analysis for mechanical issues using tools like Six Sigma methodologies
