Key Responsibilities

  • Operate classical lathes to machine metal parts from raw materials, ensuring precise dimensions and surface finishes according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance, setup, and tool changes on lathe equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Inspect machined components using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, lockout/tagout procedures, and housekeeping to create a zero-incident work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily production targets, troubleshoot issues, and suggest process improvements.
  • Record production data accurately in manufacturing systems and report any deviations or non-conformances promptly.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by participating in lean manufacturing practices and Kaizen events.

  • Strong commitment to safety standards and quality control in a manufacturing environment (experience)
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a certified machinist apprenticeship program (experience)
  • Experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing industries (experience)
  • Familiarity with CNC lathes as a complement to classical machining (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate classical lathes to turn, face, thread, and form metal workpieces to exact specifications
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on material type and job requirements
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections, documenting results to ensure 100% compliance with quality metrics
  • Maintain detailed production logs and perform basic equipment troubleshooting to sustain operational flow
  • Follow Honeywell's safety, environmental, and lean manufacturing protocols without exception
  • Assist in inventory management of tools, materials, and consumables for seamless production
  • Participate in team huddles and contribute ideas for process optimization and waste reduction
