Location: South Bend, Indiana | Workplace: Hybrid

We are hiring a skilled Post Processing Operator for our state-of-the-art facility in South Bend, Indiana. In this hybrid role, you will play a critical part in our Advanced Manufacturing operations, focusing on the post-processing of additive manufactured (3D printed) components for aerospace and industrial applications. As a Post Processing Operator, you will ensure parts meet exacting quality standards through precision finishing, inspection, and preparation for final assembly. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform precision finishing operations including machining, grinding, polishing, and chemical etching on additive manufactured metal and polymer parts to achieve dimensional accuracy and surface quality specifications.
  • Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) such as visual inspections, dye penetrant, and ultrasonic testing to verify part integrity and compliance with aerospace standards like AS9100.
  • Operate and maintain post-processing equipment, including CNC machines, heat treatment ovens, and support removal systems, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Support material heat treatment processes, including stress relief and annealing, while adhering to strict safety and environmental protocols.
  • Document all processes, measurements, and defects using digital quality management systems like Honeywell's proprietary MES software.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot issues, implement process improvements, and reduce cycle times in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following 5S methodologies and Honeywell's safety standards.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in post-processing, machining, or additive manufacturing operations (experience)
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP) and blueprint reading/GD&T (experience)
  • Ability to operate precision tools and equipment safely (experience)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality (experience)
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required due to ITAR compliance (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in additive manufacturing (e.g., ASTM/ANSI or SME) (experience)
  • Experience with powder bed fusion (e.g., DMLS, SLM) post-processing (experience)
  • Prior work in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Execute finishing operations on 3D printed parts using CNC grinders, media blasters, and vapor smoothing equipment to meet tolerances of ±0.001 inches
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using CMM, calipers, micrometers, and profilometers, recording data in quality databases
  • Prepare parts for heat treatment and oversee HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing) cycles per engineering specifications
  • Identify and segregate non-conforming parts, initiating corrective actions via root cause analysis tools like 8D
  • Maintain equipment logs, perform routine calibrations, and coordinate with maintenance for repairs
  • Assist in process validation and optimization projects to improve yield and throughput
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Honeywell EHS policies during all operations
