As a Principal Process Specialist, you will support the development, innovation, commercialization, and project execution of advanced Crude Processing technology. You will drive process optimization for refining operations, ensuring efficiency, sustainability, and compliance in the energy sector. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, simulation, and optimization of crude oil processing units using advanced process modeling tools.
  • Develop and commercialize innovative process technologies to enhance yield, reduce emissions, and improve energy efficiency.
  • Execute complex engineering projects from concept through commissioning, managing timelines, budgets, and cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct process safety analyses, including HAZOP and PHA studies, to ensure regulatory compliance and operational safety.
  • Collaborate with R&D, operations, and external partners to scale laboratory innovations into full-scale commercial applications.
  • Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting and debottlenecking existing crude processing facilities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to Honeywell's knowledge management systems.

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited university (experience)
  • 10+ years of experience in process engineering within the oil & gas or refining industry, with focus on crude processing (experience)
  • Proven track record in process design, simulation, and optimization for upstream or midstream operations (experience)
  • Experience with regulatory standards such as API, ASME, and OSHA for process safety management (experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams to successful commercialization (experience)
  • Proficiency in process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS, UniSim, or PRO/II (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering or related discipline (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification (experience)
  • Experience with crude oil assay management and fractionation technologies (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize crude distillation units (CDU), vacuum distillation units (VDU), and associated process equipment using modeling software
  • Lead process innovation initiatives, including feasibility studies and techno-economic analyses for new crude processing technologies
  • Manage full lifecycle project execution, from front-end engineering design (FEED) to plant startup and performance testing
  • Perform process safety reviews, including HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL assessments, to mitigate risks in high-hazard environments
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to pilot and scale novel catalysts and process configurations for improved crude yields
  • Develop P&IDs, heat and material balances, and equipment specifications for crude processing facilities
  • Provide technical support for refinery operations, troubleshooting yield losses and energy inefficiencies
