Location: Tempe, AZ (Hybrid)

Overview

Join Honeywell's Aerospace Technologies division as a Project Engineer II - Engine Controls in Tempe, AZ. In this critical role, you will manage and execute complex engineering projects focused on advanced engine control systems for aerospace applications. Reporting directly to the Engineering Program Manager, you will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Collaborating with cross-functional teams including systems engineers, software developers, and manufacturing experts, you will define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables to drive innovation in engine controls that power next-generation aircraft. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full project lifecycle for engine control systems, from requirements gathering to verification and validation.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and risk management plans using tools like MS Project or Primavera.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to integrate hardware, software, and firmware components seamlessly.
  • Conduct design reviews, failure mode analysis (FMEA), and ensure compliance with DO-178C and DO-254 standards.
  • Monitor project progress, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to meet milestones.
  • Generate technical documentation, including test plans, reports, and certification artifacts for FAA/EASA approval.

Summary

  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget in a regulated industry (experience)
  • Experience with systems engineering processes and tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion) (experience)
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards such as ARP4754A, ARP4761, and RTCA/DO standards (experience)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Project Management (experience)
  • PMP or similar project management certification (experience)
  • Experience with Full Authority Digital Engine Controls (FADEC) or similar systems (experience)
  • Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink for control system modeling (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end engineering projects for engine control systems, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and regulatory standards
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with program managers and technical leads
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget tracking using industry-standard tools
  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute design, development, integration, and testing phases of engine control projects
  • Perform risk assessments, mitigation planning, and change management to address technical and schedule challenges
  • Facilitate design reviews, gate reviews, and customer demonstrations to secure approvals and stakeholder buy-in
  • Prepare and present project status reports, lessons learned, and continuous improvement recommendations
